Until December 20, Antiquarium Boscoreale the exhibition is teaching "The casts. Event dedicated to the study of the ancient world through the artifacts of the Vesuvius.
The exhibition "casts" is curated by the same director Antiquarium Boscoreale, the Ms. Stefani, and deals with the victims of the eruption that destroyed Pompeii in 79 AD.
Along with the cast of a dog of the House of Orpheus, with the cast of a pig and a woman found in the Villa of Pisanello, always exposed Antiquarium are exposed other human casts, copies or originals, performed at the archaeological site of Pompeii. A long series of casts from the first experience of the method invented by Joseph Fiorelli to recent discoveries. The method Fiorelli , invented by the Neapolitan archaeologist who was director of excavations from 1861 to 1875, provides a flow of liquid plaster into the cavity left by the body in volcanic material, allowing to trace to the laying of the victim at the time of the eruption.
To illustrate the history of the different techniques used in the reproduction of the casts is also exposed the cast in resin produced in 1984 and made on one of the victims found in the villa of Lucius Tertius Crassius at Oplontis excavation.
